How to start sims on fire?

The first and only Sim I lost to a fire came about when my family went camping. The mother had already used the grill earlier in the day, but when she went to make breakfast just before dawn, and lit the grill, suddenly flames leapt out at her. Before I knew it she was engulfed. There was no way for her husband or sons to help her. She had no ability to try to put the flames out herself. So, as much as it wasn't in my storyline, Jade was sacrificed. She makes a cool ghost, however. Smoke clings to her midriff as she floats along. This was very unexpected and my first 'random' death in game, too. This event occurred in my Legacy Challenge game.
