How will you use the new roommate system?

I assume this is separate to the relationship "roommate" as you are all talking about not having control of the Sim and paying rent etc.?

I had my Sim move into that vacant house in Britechester and remodeled it with for bedrooms and a basement with a computer library and also a space with a pong table and keg. The potential roommates he got were all students and he cooked and cleaned while they did their studies and paid rent. Sometimes they threw parties and left obnoxious notes, but it worked out great

@Montrase102 That sounds like a really fun idea.

I like the idea of having a boyfriend/girlfriend be your unplayable roommate for awhile. I think I'll try that one out.

Otherwise, I recently built a lot with a couple of townhouse-styled buildings. I have a mother and son that lives in one, but the other one is obviously vacant. I had wished for there to be a way I could have someone live there without playing them, so the new roommate feature will definitely come in handy for that.

I used it to make a nursing home for elderly sims. It's a bit tricky keeping everyone happy so they'll stay, but tons of fun. My main sim makes a flower arrangement or two to sell on the market table and pay a portion of the bills. The roommates pay the rest. So she has plenty of free time to do whatever, but that arts & crafts pack would really come in handy right now.

Right. Discover University comes with the ability to place an ad for roommates (or just ask anyone you meet to be your roommate.) They are not controllable and go on with their lives in the background, paying rent twice a week.

Well my student just graduated and moved into an apt in San Myshuno (Medina) and she had an extra bedroom. So she put out an ad for a roommate...well she got herself a roommate and then some. Her new roommate is a player for sure; he has a new girlfriend come over almost every day. But otherwise I will be using the roommate option to help with household bills and fill up apartment/duplex builds.

I will use them for utterly nefarious purposes, of course. The roommates will provide a relatively stable supply of feeding victims that may be preyed upon at any hour of the day, and in relative privacy.

Haha. That's the purpose of my nursing home, too. My sim is a vampire so she feeds on the elderly roommates. Every now and then someone gets fed up and tries to leave, but she convinces them to stay. >:)
