Hydro...no

I guess my Sim has a fear of swimming pools.

Hydro...NO!
Fear-of-pool deniers conveniently ignore that everyday horrors of the pool 'experience.' Chlorine, overflowing gutters, unnatural shade the cyan, and worst of all stepping on floating soggy bandages...

How long has this been around?

  • This has to be a game thing not a pack mod. Because I have the sims on my laptop with no mods and my sim just got this hydro...no! notification. Her traits are perfectionist, neat and outgoing. So it’s possible it’s one of those traits. But I don’t know. I got scared and thought she was gonna drown or something.

@ritabrownie It's not the traits because my sim didn't have any of those
  • I never had that In my game. Only my dogs sometimes have a fear of water, never sims.

Sounds like maybe the paranoid trait could influence the thalassophobia (“that ocean looks so deep it’s terrifying” etc). Squeamish of Neat could maybe influence the swimming pool “phobia”/disgust ?

I have a neat sim, she has a swimming pool in her garden, she’s been to the public pool multiple times and she’s never had that moodlet.

Can it be caused by a mod?

It's not a mod - I don't use mods - and it's not a particular trait. My Sim got this moodlet, and as she was a child, she only had one personality trait ('Loner'). She was swimming for the first time in the ocean. She had a 3 in motor skills (she'd just aged up from toddler, and got the skill boost from the top-notch toddler trait). Another poster mentioned having it without IL, so it wasn't triggered by swimming in the ocean and it's not exclusive to IL. I think the moodlet must have been added in the pre-patch for IL.

Personally, I like it - it's a bit of unexpected random, more like real life.

I just got this moodlet on my sim who has lived in the house a long time in Sulani. Suddenly, he's "Hydro, Oh no!" I don't know whether to remove the pool or not. They live next to the sea. Strange. First time I ever saw that one in my game apart from Thessalaphobia which was a pain. I have parenthood, but this is a grown adult, who had no moodlets like this with pools before!
  • I've seen the "Hydro...NO!", and maybe "Thalassopobia", on various sims. Only had Base game and Get Together at the time. Every time it was buried by more positive moodlets that the sim was in truth enjoying their swim so pretty much ignored them. Can't think of a common trait that would cause it.
