That was one of my sims 411 questions.
I understand that people play the game differently, how do you design your packs for people that want an easy experience and for people that want more of a challenge and also offer fun gameplay and replayability for those people?
It's pretty apparent that they make a lot of design decisions for this game so it is accessible for new people and it's also designed for shorter play sessions. That's why the sims4 have grown in popularity because they get a lot of new people that are playing it casually. (a negative term that gamers like to use are calling those people "casuals").
Designing a game that's appealing to everyone is not easy, that's why I hope that people like SimGuruConor, who is a game designer who seems to enjoy adding more depth and challenge to the game will keep designing for the game. When he talked during the livestream he showcased that while the sim was dancing to music that they hated and did not get tense because of the happy buffs, she did get a stronger buff that ended up with her getting uncomfortable so you can tell that he thought about it.
I think his solution in Paranormal to make a "hard mode" was a good solution too, so I hope that the sims team will consider adding more solutions like that for people that want more of a challenge and like to play the game for longer. People that want to play more casually can turn off hard mode and enjoy the sims4 right now which to be honest feels more like "easy mode".
