I can't find the option for "Read to child" anywhere?

So I'm trying to play a sim that has the big happy family aspiration, and they have to read to a child for 2hrs, but every time I try to grab a book from the bookshelf for them, I don't see any option...

I actually think that I have been able to read to a child by clicking on the bed. Hm... not sure if it was a child or toddler... and it's been a while ago anyway, so many patches might have changed it. I never tried to read to a child unless they were in bed though, is that what you want to do?
