i'm sure a number of those who complained before the career was released are changing their minds once they see it in action. as happens every time... (you'd think people would learn...)
I was more vocal than I have been in the past because of this particular career addition.
I created a sim this morning who wants to be a romance writer which suits her Soulmate aspiration. She is all about the romance - watching romantic TV, dressing in hearts and flowers - whatever I can do to make her as romantic as possible. I created her especially to be in the Freelancer writer branch. So far none of my gig options (even those that are above my present level) are romantic themed ones. If one does come up it is possible that I will be doing the same one over and over again. This is not stimulating gameplay to me.
The profession she could join is the Writer career and choose the Author branch when the time comes. But as I already have a sim in that branch there really isn't any need for two sims doing the same job. (And as I said, she was created specifically for the Freelancer career.)
The best solution for me is to just register with the Ministry of Labour as a romance novelist - the Danielle Steele of the Sims set. Then sit her down at a computer, practice writing and when the time comes just write romance novels and collect the royalties. Won't take long as I only have to get her to level 4.
Freelancer is doing nothing for this Sim as I knew it wouldn't pre-release. So no, I didn't change my mind. It doesn't interest me. Not for this sim and really not for the other sims I have that are writers.
