Whats the point of the painter, author, and tech guru careers if sims can work from home under those same job titles?
It does not make sense to me.

Truthfully we can already do freelancer work in the BG with all of those 3 skills. You can already have requests from people asking you to do things with the programming skill. To me it seems like work and time spent for nothing. They could have used that time and work to bring us something actually new and, therefore, more significant but ok.....Or, they could have, at least, made use of skills that aren't used as often, like handiness or photography.
I do like the new buy mode though.
I would have agreed with handiness. Correct me if I am wrong but we had no careers that go with it? Personally I dislike grinding for that skill, and always use the replace option.- Sigzy_297 years agoLegend

I don't think we have no. - GreatBritney997 years agoSeasoned AceI'm really looking forward to the Freelancer career. Like many others have said, it's gonna be a great option for sims who want to work from home, or need to for the family, but they can still make and track what money and progress they're making. I think they wanted to test out this career with the three we all ready have to see how it goes. Honestly, I can see them expanding on this in the future and I'm all about it.

Eh, to me you're right. They could have added a third option as freelancer under the already existing artist, tech guru and writer branches. It would have the same purpose but be organized better. Things that would have made sense under freelancer that don't have existing branches would be photographer or carpenter (woodworking) for example. Potentially a baker where you don't want to run a store but sell directly, a gig to cook certain goods.
I wonder if they'll add more options under freelancer in the future or split it for a 3way branch in existing ones
I honestly feel like most of the players are going to do freelancer now instead of the actual careers.
What they should have done is include other kinds of freelance work that are not art, programming, or writing. Like you said, photographer, carpenter, and baker would have been great. The photography and woodworking skills are very limited and kind of...useless. I dont think the sims team thought this through.
Yeah, unless I specifically want an item that only unlocks in a career, I will go Freelancer*.
*For those careers that are involved. If I want a pro athlete, of course, or a secret agent? Not freelancer. Duh. "Sigzy05;c-17032359" wrote:

Just developers being lazy as always. -shrugs-- With a freelance career, it gives your sim the option to say plumb it, I don't wanna work today. Some jobs I think would rather be better off freelance such as writing and painting. Those should have been freelance all along. I personally don't care about a title my sim has.

Agreed. I've always hated rabbit holes so having even more active career option is great.- I just wish freelance options were more exciting. Something completely new like, I don't know, a translator? A tutor? You could have sim children come in so your sim helps with their homework. Anything other than what they came up with. Tired of doing the same things over and over again just in a slightly different way.
- From the way it sounds, Freelancer is kinda similar to the Acting career. You get "missions" to complete within a certain time frame. Whereas Writer, Painter, etc., careers are steady on a regular time schedule.
- HypsieOrigin7 years agoRising VeteranIt's the difference in working for the Chronicle or the Post as a salaried employee, vs someone who sells articles on their own. As to the point, the point is it gives us more options, isn't that always the point.
