No one is forcing anyone to buy a Seasons pack. Yes, I know the arguments...'but I want the 'stuff' in the pack'. At some point in life people are going to have to learn to exercise self control. It didn't hurt me at all to skip the last several packs no matter what was in them , pets are not my cup of tea, and a new chair, dress, or hairstyle can't make me deal with pets. It's called discipline. If you don't want your current games changed by new type gameplay that you would find annoying then you learn to skip things.
Basic weather would likely be patched in prior to the pack anyway, making a huge portion of that irrelevant, lol.
Why would they do that?
Because basic weather is an over-arching feature, much like lot traits and such. It's going to affect all the worlds we already have, plus any others that come in future packs. Remember how lot traits were patched in, then added to later through packs? Same thing, only bigger. I'm not saying there will be a lot to the basic weather they patch in. I'm just saying it will be there to provide a foundation for any future content.
And if people were to avoid purchasing the Seasons pack to avoid weather related stuff, well... I don't see it happening for the reasons that post describes. They'd be avoiding the pack if they didn't want the seasonal events or something, sure. But I really, really doubt weather will be contained only to that pack and without it, the game stays as it is now.
I do hope you get to control the weather through options, though.
But you think there is a difference then between Sims 4 and the earlier games in that respect? Technically I mean?
