As a person from the southeastern coastal US, I can easily say that I am sick of eternal sunshine in my game.
This area of the country only has 3 kinds of weather: blisteringly hot sun, overcast, or pouring rain. I want to live out the four seasons in my game because I don't ever get to see snow. We hardly have any deciduous trees here either, so yellow/orange/red leaves do not exist much at all.
Winter is actually my favorite season because of the change in atmosphere.
I'd really like seasons because it's always given a few things:
-Mood lighting: a warm orange glow for autumn or a cool blue for winter really helps set the mood when taking screenshots for stories. Camping out in Granite Falls would have a totally different feel depending on what season it was.
-A touch of realism: barring places extremely close to the equator, most places in the world get at least rain on occasion. And while it's not necessarily fun to have to cancel your outdoor plans in-game due to a thunderstorm, it's unexpected turns like that that make the game more interesting for me. Gardener sims who primarily make money from selling crops will have to save up for winter since all their plants go dormant, unless we get proper greenhouses again.
-New chances to die: lightning strikes, death by hail, hypothermia, and spontaneous combustion are always fun to see.
-Variety in activities: winter activities, water balloon fights, raking leaves, seasonal holidays, etc. All around just more stuff to fill out our sims' day, or provide interesting twists on group outings or dates.
