i feel the same, but i think this should be included in the base game, not an expansion pack.
there's a lot of interesting subjects and i dont think seasons is one of them, i prefer new things and new experiences so... yea. i would rather have a magic themed expansion pack than seasons.
Seasons in the base game would definitely be a step in the right direction. The same with pets, so devs can concentrate more on actually interesting and new things instead of the same things all over again, because they "have to be there". Well, if they're so important, just put them in the base game. But I guess they know that these packs make lots of money, and they wouldn't want to miss out on that.
My brother believes that if it's in the previous game it should be in the base game.
This is understandable and it would even likely be true for other game series where continuations most often are attempts to improve the previous game for experienced fans. But the difference alas is that EA sees new simmers as the most important target group instead. Therefore EA doesn’t really attempt to improve the game but just to experiment with different types of Sims games.
So EA makes a new game engine for each new Sims game. (The purpose of game engines is to make it easier, faster and cheaper to add something to a game.) This new game engine especially support the new main theme in each new Sims game. So the Sims 2 game engine supported connected neighborhoods and to allow us to control many families. The Sims 3 game engine instead supported a huge open game world and story progression. And the Sims 4 game engine instead supports much more autonomous behavior and multitasking.
Our problem is that we don’t know yet if the Sims 4 game engine also support weather, seasons or cars in the same way that the game engines for the previous games did. EA clearly wants each new Sims game to be as different from all earlier Sims games as possible and EA use a lot of money on developing all those new game engines. Therefore EA likely tells the developers not to include things in the game engines which EA doesn’t plan to use again for the new game too.
