I have the rain turned off, so why is it raining?

It's three sim weeks into a new save, it's fall in Oasis Springs, which is supposed to have an arid climate anyway, isn't it? The weather forecast was a question mark, do the weather options not work with that? Also, my household doesn't have an umbrella stand, but she keeps popping open an umbrella, that's getting kind of annoying, where did she get it?

  • @Idmarko Unfortunately, even if you have any of the weather options turned off, on days with a yellow question mark, you can still get any kind of weather. You might want to search on EA Answers for a link to a bug report about it and click 'me too' if you find one. That's probably the best way to get the Devs attention that this is a big problem for many Simmers. Especially since some are extremely afraid of thunderstorms or are triggered by loud noises. I hope they fix it because, in my opinion, if your game is set for no thunderstorms, you should've get any at all, period!

As for the umbrella situation, I've never had any of my Sims get a black umbrella if they haven't previously chosen any, they just get soaked. However, I have taken away black umbrellas from vampires that have sun immunity, like Caleb, and the next time I see them, they STILL have one. *sigh* I'm sure it's just because vampires are coded to have umbrellas in the Sun no matter what since it was a request from Simmers. But, again, in my opinion, if a vampire has sun immunity, the game should recognize that and not automatically give them one. *shrugs*

    Happy Simming anyway! <3

@Karababy52 it wasn't a thunderstorm, just a light rain. Not even really that annoying, except that I didn't expect it since I'd opted out of rain. I'll keep that in mind if it doesn't apply to the mystery weather. I only turned it off because I was tired of not knowing the weather in other worlds & it often spoiled plans I had for the sim. As for the umbrellas. I wouldn't mind so much if they were taking a stroll or something, but she was planting a garden & kept opening & closing it while walking between plants.
  • Sims straight from CAS don't get umbrellas if you play and stay with them right after creating them. If you switch household the household you left will have umbrellas when you get back. When you just place a household on a lot to then enter they will most likely also get umbrellas on their own.

If you want them to have umbrellas and they don't, you need the umbrella rack thing (also for changing the colour of the umbrella as someone already mentioned). You also use the rack to remove the umbrellas. I never use them, if I even have rain on, it just fucks up the gameplay and make the sims tense.
  • I have my seasons set for 14 days, each, and I got a lot of rain. As in it's almost always raining. So nice to know there's no drought, but still …
  • Sims will automatically have an umbrella in there inventory (not shown) as they are created.
