When I'm not in the mood for holidays I edit them into no tasks for that day, so when the holiday popped up, you may get a paid day off (if I have forgotten to unchecked), but no bad feelings. Also when I'm in mood again or changed the family I have still the holiday on the original day. With that method I follow my years ingame, with the big plus that a random holiday rarely comes up, the bad ones got eradicated on sight.
