I play rotationally and I am currently playing a single sim household. Now, I haven't had Seasons long and this notification popped up telling me it was Winterfest. I looked at this big list of stuff I had to do and immediately hit the X. Had to be done :)

You don't have to do all the things in that list to get a happy moodlet and aspiration reward from the holiday. Just a couple generally is enough, especially if you do the ones which the specific Sim has a "heart" over in the list. You know you've done as much as they need to when the whole bar for it gets a gold overlay.I just had "The Festival of Arts" in my game and both of my active sims got what they consider a "great holiday" from just doing 2 of the things in the list.Also, if you really just don't want to do them, you can delete most of the default holidays completely and they will never show up again. Or edit them so that big list of stuff to do has only things which you want it to have.If you aren't going to do a holiday, I recommend just deleting it so it never comes up again, because sims get negative moodlets if you leave them on and don't do any of the stuff. Worst case scenario is you change your mind and add them back using the button to Add a Holiday.

The best way I found to deal with holidays when I don't feel like celebrating them is to have a lot somewhere in the world which you can just visit to celebrate the holiday. And I also use a mod which prevents them getting a sad moodlet if you cancel the holiday.

Also, if you aren't going to celebrate one holiday with a household you could switch to another household for the purpose of celebrating that particular holiday.

@Stormkeep Ah didn't realise you can edit them. Good stuff :)I was hesitant about buying seasons, but I have really fallen in love with the way the world changes.

For any that you can't edit, you can still just trash can them completely and then add them back yourself. Ones you add yourself can always be edited.

Community lots are useful for other holidays. I think I even had Winterfest at a University as a Christmas tree might be placed at a community lot at campus, gifts might be put under the tree and random students might be available for opening the gifts.

Oh my gosh that is an amazing idea! In all this time I never thought to put a Christmas tree up on a commercial lot. Next time the holiday comes around in my game I will add one to my coffee shop and decorate it for Winterfest. Thank you for mentioning that. :smile:

What I do is save a version of certain community lots for each of the major holidays. That way when I holiday comes around I can just pull in the version specific to that holiday if I want/need to. The nice thing about doing it that way is you can take more time to really deck it out for a holiday if you want, knowing it's not a lot of work for just "one use".

Yes, I agree. I'm a big fan of Seasons, it's the pack I'd pick if I had to pick just one pack for the game. The same was true in TS3 and in TS2.

Seasonal lot markers so that lots change automatically with the Season is the one feature of TS3 which I miss most in TS4. I know most people would pick "open world" but honestly, it's not even a close second for me.

You could use the community market lots that came with eco living to mimic the seasonal lot changes.

That is also great really idea! I will have to try it. I have got so many great ideas that have made the game so much fun just from reading the forum. :blush:
