I kind of hate the rating systems on beds...
I like a certain style of bed but then they wake up with sore backs. This is one things I've always hated in the sims is bed ratings. :-/

It was most likely a coincidence haha. I'm no expert by I'm not sure they would be able to implement that feature so fast. Plus, they probably would not implement something solely because a handful of people on a forum mentioned that they would like. Most likely it's something they already had planned to add with this patch and OP has some really excellent timing.
