really dislikes the calendar.. It wasn't a problem when I could delete the events on it but now with get famous I can't delete those events.. >:) only to have my sims get a awful event moodlet.. it ...

Yep, I agree wholeheartedly, @fullspiral.
Even without deleting holidays, just select "none" for decoration option in the drop down in the top right. That stops all decorations around town. Or it should, if your game is working properly. I have it set to that for most holidays, except Winterfest, Harvestfest, and Spooky Day. I like having the town decorate for those.
Honestly, having holidays on the calendar set with no decoration options might help get rid of the ones that are up in your game. Worth a shot. When the holiday gets close, everyone should undecorate for it.
