I never had a problem with making my sims' lifes harder, so I wouldn't pay real money for a pack that automates what takes scribbling down a few house rules. I think that would only appeal to the "I don't want to make my own story" crowd that waits for the game to tell them what they can/should do next. Or maybe if you play with free will on, and your sims grab free meals all the time despite you having said they can only cook if they own all the infredients, I suppose that could be annoying and immsersion breaking. But still, for the price of a gamepack I could have four kits or two SPs that actually expand my experience.
Maybe a free update or a kit with some penalty traits like slow learner, wimp and the like instead of a GP? Sims could start with a number of points for helpful traits like in an rpg, and taking penalty traits would grant them more points to spend on helpful traits. But sims shouldn't be required to spend all their points, if a player wanted only unhelpful traits, that should be possible.
While to some extent you can make your own challenges, a lot of things are part of the game to make it easy. Like the darn phone that Sims keep using. Your homeless Sim has a smartphone they take pictures on, watch videos on and lot's of other things. So let's get rid of that.
And this expansion could bring many new rewards, but they are hard to get without cheats. Could maybe come with like a new adventure type, like jungle adventure but much harder with a good chance of death. It could feature a dungeon that requires maxed out skill in quite a few skills to make it through and reach it to the end and claim some amazing reward. Could be a nice return of the Genie lamp perhaps, which still could have possible negative outcomes.
But unlike the fountain, you'd have no way to tell beforehand if it will be good or bad, but also unlike the fountain, never a 'meh' result. It's always something life changing. Could maybe be a way to reduce the chance of bad effects some, but it should never eliminate it, at most you could get 75% chance of the good result, so still 1 out of 4 would be bad. Really bad.
Some examples of wishes and results:
-Wish for gold.
Your Sim gets a huge pile of gold worth millions of simoleons.. but it's either dropped in front of them, or on top of them which would kill them and leave that money for another Sim to be claimed. But whoever claims that gold now gets haunted by the ghost of that sim who will mess up things in their house and would need to be get rid of in some way.
-Wish for eternal youth.
Only available to adults and elders, it either turns a Sim into an eternal young adult, or an eternal child. They will never age up, they are forever stuck in this age group.
-Wish for a specific skill.
You can select any skill that is available in your game with the expansions you have, and wish to master it. You either master that skill, or lose 50% of all skill points you earned. So it gets riskier the more skills you have learned. Only if a Sim has zero skills could it have a 100% success rate but that's hard to get since sims get level 1 so easy and it counts too.
-Wish to be famous.
Your Sim gets a call after making the wish. Either a talent scout gives you a call and humbly asks if they get to represent someone as amazing as you, and you become a 5 star celebrity with maxed out positive reputation, or you get a call from the police that your Sim's house is on fire and they are implicated to have started it. Your Sim gets arrested, time progresses for a week.
If any other Sims where in that house, they might have stopped the fire but it does cause like 6 random objects to be put on fire at once so there is a good chance this Sim's family might die in the fire. Also the Sim gets full negative reputation for being seen as an arsonist.
-Wish for happiness.
Either your sim's motives are maxed out with a buff that lasts for a week, they can't go down in any way even if put on fire they'd still keep full hygiene. Or your Sim's motives are all drained empty to give a random sim in your household or other friend or relative of your Sim that buff instead. While it does not kill your sim, it might when they must eat to not starve to death while also passing out from exhaustion.
-Wish for food.
Either your Sim gets a food item in their inventory that gives infinite food and never spoils, or their hunger need keeps dropping like crazy for week causing them to spend most of their time eating.
-Wish for a special baby.
Your Sim, regardless of gender, becomes pregnant with a random occult baby or it causes a random Sim in their household to become a baby. Themselves if they are the only Sim in the house hold.
