If my sim is wearing leggings only (no pants), is she considered naked?

I've always wondered how the game processes "leggings" which are found under accessories and not bottoms. While I understand that they are useful in that category to stylize with bottoms, obviously a lot of women wear leggings as pants be it in the gym or everyday (or at least here in Vancouver where Lulu Lemon is from and dominates)

So when I put sims just in leggings and don't add a "bottom" (like pants) I'm a little unclear if that means the game considers the sim "naked" or not (and get the wrong type of attention/moodlets, ect) or does the game consider them clothed?

No, the game should still consider that sim clothed.
  • I use leggings all the time, mostly for athletic wear and cold weather wear. Sims wearing leggings are definitely not considered naked.
  • Cool, I was worried I was going to get a moodlet if I only dressed them in that or they'd be considered half naked (like in their underwear)
  • Well, if you are starting out with leggings now, I can especially recommend the ones from the Jungle Adventure pack. They look really cute with a big ol' sweater and the ugg-like boots from the base game or Get Famous for cold weather wear.
  • Same as Netzspannung. Before I got Spa Day I only had 1 pair of bottoms that looked like workout tights and they were in the hose/leggings category. They were considered clothed. At least I didn't notice any difference between them and others who wore trousers.
  • I came across your post because I’m having an issue with leggings that I wasn’t having before. I’m about to submit a bug report. My military sim was working out at the gym when I noticed that everyone kept staring at one of my sims from one of my other households. They all got thought bubbles containing her face and gasped at her as if she was doing something scandalous. I also noticed that she would change into her workout outfit, exercise for a moment, and then stop and change back into an everyday outfit. She’s wearing a sports bra and the black galaxy leggings. She’s had this same outfit for over a year, and I never had any issues. I have another sim that has always worn the galaxy leggings as well for working out, and I never had an issue with her either. But now the game views this attire as naked.

I switched over to her household and saw that she had the embarrassed moodlet from her privacy being invaded. I tested the other workout outfits and there were no issues. Then I put shorts over the leggings and tested the game again. Now everything is fine. I read a comment on Answers HQ about cc clothing causing this in another simmer’s game. But my sim is not wearing cc other than her hair. All of her hair is cc, but no other outfits are affected, so I think it’s an issue with the leggings.

Just wondering if you experimented with leggings yet and had the same issue.

Hey sorry for late reply, I haven't had that happen however there is a chance that the leggings your using aren't properly identified in-game as pants meaning its less of a bug and more of a mistake made by Maxis to properly label it in code as what it is. Have you tried other leggings?

The game does not consider anything naked until you tell your sim to strip.

yep, even with certain mods, you can dress them as naked and they are considered being clothed. in all likelihood, any outfit is considered clothed by the game regardless, unless of course you do as @Dekay suggests and then it is not.
