Thanks @haneul Yupp, I too prefer homes that were actually shaped by sims living there, either present household or in the past. My royal estate ha s several sections that will be locked off normally, simply to avoid that a random sim hangs out in the more gala formal lounge, or to help limiting their routing. However, when entering the lot I have fond some sims in rooms that they have no access to, as the game place them randomly. But teleporting is my friend, especially in such a huge house.
I like the idea of empty rooms to be filled later. I actually had too little space for the rooms I need for story telling or skills building etc, but I've not yet started 3rd floor, which is mainly reserved bed/dressing- and bathrooms. I will have 1-2 live in servants staying farther down, but there ought to be some extra bedrooms on 3rd floor for relatives that might stay at the chateau periodically. With each bedroom locked off to anyone but the sim/s sleeping there, I hope that 3rd floor will not be busy at all, but that they will mainly use 2nd floor. It's easier playing a large house/hold on limited floors, I think. The basement will be locked off to them, unless there is a reason to go down there.
