Im sick of the ads

I have been using adblockers since they were invented. I seriously can't understand people NOT using them. That's why I am surprised. People complaining about ads on youtube? It's their own fault for not stopping them.
Also, before anyone says anything: It is not more morally wrong to use an adblocker than it is to go to the bathroom at commercial breaks.

Adblockers stop content creators from getting any ad revenue though. If you still want to support the creator of the video without watching ads on Youtube you can disable adblock on Youtube and pay for Youtube premium, many people may find it expensive though.

"Disable Adblock on Youtube". No. Youtube is Google. I make damn sure to block any and everything Google uses to track me.

Also, it's 2020. Get a Patreon if you intend to live on making digital content. Not only because more than half the viewers will have, and refuse to turn off, adblockers, but also because the Youtube algorithms WILL suddenly plum you over, for no good reason.

I watch YouTube on mobile devices, which don’t have adblockers. Not sure how that one’s on me chief ?.

That's the one reason I prefer using Youtube in my browser on my phone, since Firefox supports adblocking addons on Android. I stay away from the Youtube app if I can, because I don't want my music video interrupted by some plumplumming plumming ad.

I play Sims, talk about Sims, but don't see Sims ads. But then, I make a point of going into every app I use, every site I visit (where possible) and turn off any trackers. When on my desktop, I also use (free) adblockers, turn off third-party cookies.

Basically, if you don't do any of that, you'll get ads based on everything else you look up and they eventually start repeating. If you block the trackers, the ads will be the most random and frequently irrelevant.

We pay more for Hulu to get ad free, but we've never paid for adblockers online. Our browsers have various options for blocking built in, on my computer and phone. Surely that's not just an Apple thing?

That’s the craziest part to me. I’ve turned off tracking for every app I can! And yet still...

I find I don't get a lot of EA/Sims ads. I do see them on Facebook, but there's other ads too. I don't use adblock, but I just switched to using Firefox as my main browser (with Ecosia as my main search engine), and they seem to block some cookies and stuff and collect less of their users' personal information.

I do get a lot of ads for other games though on YouTube. League of Legends and some war/military games come to mind. There's this super annoying World of Warships game or something? I really don't like the ad because it's loud and has a siren-y sound in it. I've never played games like that, so it's kinda weird I get so many ads for them.

I do get ads on Instagram. It's the only social network I use (I virtually only use Instagram, Reddit and Imgur these days) where I can't block them, and only on my phone. I stopped using Facebook years ago, and Twitter has the benefit (not that I use Twitter much either these days) that all ads are treated as regular tweets, so you can just block any company sending you ads. One ad? BOOM! Into the blocklist you go ;)
