I'm so mad! Rant and rave!

My sim needed to do a mad rant and rave video. So she put on her angry lion hat and the 1st guy who came along caught hell! She argued with him until she was very angry. Poor guy.
So she goes to do the video, mad as hell and right before she is done... confident video. Not an angry video.
It really made me mad though! What is up with this? The video should be what was started! You can't go changing it at the end like that! Grrr. Stupid game!

Had something similar happen the day before yesterday. Don was making an inspired video, but before it was done, he got flirty and it ended up becoming a flirty video instead despite what it was started out as. *Sarcastic applaud*
  • I agree, I gave up trying because my sim couldn’t keep an emotion long enough to film the video. They could have at least made it not take so long to film one. If sims didn’t have such spastic emotions this wouldn’t happen. ? Talk about hormonal sims.
  • It should be like a "Flirty" painting. If you start it when flirty, but finish it later while inspired, it's still a flirty painting. Often higher quality, I find.

If anything, confident should have made the "mad rant and rave" video even better when finished, not turn the video into a "Confident" one.

@Admiral8Q Exactly. We are used to it working that way in every other situation.
  • This is how badly emotions were implemented. They don't do enough to make the game interesting, and at the same time, they are so scatter brained that they get in the way of gameplay. I don't know how many times I'll tell my sim to do an interaction based on emotion with another sim that fails because his emotion changed while walking across the room. Why can't he just do it anyway?!?! What difference does it make? Anything queued or created with an emotion should just stay that way.

God, the emotion system is..... it's such a .... a debacle.

I tried that video making thing with a Sim once...same kind of thing happened. The moods are way too unstable to seriously accomplish anything the way the game is set up to. I don't even put the effort in, honestly. Any time I've made an attempt at a specific emotion, it always ends up changed by some random object, conversation, decoration, circumstance, etc. I try to mostly play my game around it. There isn't any Fear, Worry, or Despair anyway so why put myself through the struggle?
  • I'm having trouble with the Confident emotion that seems to override many of the other emotions.

I have a painter who needs to be Inspired but when he completes an excellent painting or a masterpiece then he's Confident for 4 hours. I have a chef that needs to be Inspired but when he prepares an excellent or impeccable dish then he's Confident for 4 hours. My Champion Gamer wins a gaming tournament which makes him confident for four hours. My Sim with the Genius trait makes a plugin, hacks something successfully, or mods a game and he gets Confident for 4 hours. I have a writer that's been working on a Romance novel for years but the Romantic mood keeps getting knocked out by Confident or sometimes Inspired.

And what does the Confident mood make a Sim want to do? Anything social, of course, but most likely a specific interaction from the Romance category like embrace, hug or compliment someone. So, four hours are shot because I haven't found anything that overrides the Confident mood.
  • I've notice that doing things that get a bonus from, let's say, "Inspired", still get the bonus even if the most powerful emotion at the moment is, let's say, "Playful".
