I hate returning home during night hours if there are sims left on the lot. You'd think the game would be programmed to recognise the time and have the sims sleeping in bed, cribs etc with an appropriate amount of sleep left to fill. But I guess the developers never thought of that. These days, if I travel during late hours I tend to take the whole household otherwise it's just a pain in the neck when you get home again.
Normally speaking, the Sim babies are generally in their cribs after the parents go out, just where they were left. I have no idea why they magically were moved. The parents weren't even out for very long. It was weird.
Generally I’ve found they’ll return from daycare to the same place they left if they were sent to daycare because the parents were in a rabbit hole, and the lot is never reloaded. But if the parents leave the lot and I go with them, all bets are off - when the lot reloads, the kids will be somewhere random.
