You can't ignore the chance cards in Parenthood. You have the option to allow a Sim to be the whistle blower and receive fame as a result, but that means a loss of the job. The other option you're given is to not report the 'problem' found and all will go on with the job, as before. I know, I've had two separate Sims in different professions get hit with this card.
