I would get tired of all animations after some time. Gameplay is more important then opening drawer I think.
But for some of us, that's part of gameplay. I love TS2 because I can see my sims opening the cabinets and drawers. When they play chess, they actually play a game of chess that you can watch and see who the real winner is, which is reflected in the game. The clocks tell the correct game time. There are a lot of tiny details that make the game more charming, in my opinion. TS3 started cutting those animations and TS4 completely left everything out and then reused nearly every animation for other things at least twice.
I suppose if there are too many little details like opening cabinets, all that needs time to execute and sim day is short. On other side, in Snowy Escape, I don't like how sims change into slippers with whirlwind. They should have real animation for that.
