This came up in another thread I made but I really wanted more opinions in a relevant thread. It feels like they tried too hard to make them "funny" but like...in a really forced way. When I flirt with another sim I want it to look like flirting, not like a sunday morning cartoon. When I have a friendly conversation with another Sim, it would make me extremely happy if my sim did not look like they were about to dislocate their shoulder from all the unnecessary arm moving. Who thought this was a good idea? Is there a mod for this?
With the unrealistic deadlines placed on the developers by EA, they are probably forced to use both stock models and stock animations. Stock animation saves time but it can sometimes be annoying because of the same animation applied to everybody for the action chosen by the player. If EA gave the developers the time needed they could watch videos of people eating drinking walking playing etc for reference material and use the reference material for creating animations. For example, let's say I want to make a 3d modelled animated movie. I want certain animations. I would reference animations of people walking. How people sit down etc. From there I would create the animations because I would be given the time needed to create the animations. Some companies in the video gaming industry, use tons of stock animations and stock models. Sometimes deadlines don't give the animators time to really tweak the stock animations to give them a more unique flair and are stuck with just stock animations those stock animations get recycled for other uses throughout the game. Unlike the sims team with deadlines, those who create custom animations aren't "cursed" with such deadlines. They have the time to make fresh animations that we want to look natural but cool at the same time.
I believe if given more time for creating what the sims team envisions they could have an amazing product with plenty of amazing gameplay, great animations and minimal issues in the game. But the sims team doesn't set up the deadlines for DLC Corporations as EA do.
