There were only 2 DLC add ons when I started playing Sims 4 in early 2015, and I did enjoy it, but I had only ever played sims freeplay prior to that, so I was perfectly happy for several months with just the base game. Since then, there has been a lot of patched in content that adds a lot to the game. I'd say at that price you can't go wrong.
