I am not into celebrities since I think they live useless lives, but I would have bought it just for the content as I do normally I looked at the list of objects and CAS and it was not very inspiring. So I am not going to buy it, really I think that if this is the best EA can do it is rather cheap.
I do like the fact that any Sim can be a celebrity, not just those in the performing arts. And not all celebrities live "useless" lives -- some do a lot of good with their notoriety, starting foundations or working with charities to help raise money for good causes (some athletes are currently helping with fundraising for those affected by the wildfires in California, and when Houston TX was affected by Hurricane Harvey a football player for the Houston Texans did a lot of fundraising to get supplies into the area). It's not the celebrity but how you use it.
I think with this pack you have to look at some of the "under the hood" features, like the Fame and the Reputation systems, to see where a lot of the work went. People complained that GT was "just another party pack" but if you look at the clubs and grouping system there's a lot more there than meets the eye. I think the Fame and the Reputation systems (especially the latter) could have a lasting impact on gameplay. They could tweak the over-the-top behavior of the fans to make it a bit less annoying, but other than that I've enjoyed the gameplay.
