Is getting GF worth it if you don't care about acting?

One thing I was pleasantly surprised was, it actually opens up the music and singing (if you have this skill) part of the game. Your sim can create, produce, sell records, and actually hear/listen to them play on the radio and stereos on the game. The costumes are pretty much locked up until you either use a mod to unlock them or unlock them through career game played.
