Is it possible to go to school/work while vacationing?

I haven't tried it myself and I like to know before wasting their vacation days but is it possible for instance child/teen to go to work while in Selvadorada or Granite Falls (or any vacation world)? ...

I have vague memories of experimenting with this.

I think you can have them go to school/work, but they'll return to their home lot rather than the rental, so you have to have them rejoin the vacation every time.

But it's been ages since I played with it I'm not sure.
