Probably not. Better wait till they release the pack, maybe the issues will be solved with the pack install.

No, it's not. Yesterday's patch broke UI in the simology panel, also prevented the game from being saved or entering build/buy mode. Wait until they release a hot fix.

I've played a fair bit today and yesterday - I haven't run into any problems yet. It is a new slate, so not an old save (learned that lesson the hard way). It runs very smooth, but that might be the newness of the save and not necessarily an optimisation - it is hard to say.
I would say it is safe to play, but I'd be careful with old saves - especially if they were modded before the patch.

As one of the people burned by the Simology panel bug... if you have parenthood, wait to update. It appears (from what I've read) that something with the character values is causing the problem.
In theory, if you don't have any teens/children/toddlers in your household, you should be fine. (or if you don't have Parenthood)

I couldn't play without updating. (I don't understand how people get around that-you wizards.) Started a new save and everything was fine for about 30 minutes. Then I discovered the problems in the Simology panel. Tried to go to Manage Worlds and the screen went black. The sim was still there-I could hear her-but none of the UI worked. Had to manually shut down my PC because I couldn't even exit out. Game is totally unplayable. I suppose the only consolation is that they'll have to come up with a hot fix or no one will be able to play My First Dating Stuff. Anyone want to lay bets on when EA is going to learn about product testing? And for the record, yes, I have mods, CC only. I went in this morning and disabled them. Came into a a bare house with a trash can and a bald, naked sim. But the UI still didn't work and I had to manually shut down my PC again.

I have seen reports which sounds like the "sims being mean for no reason" bug is back. If that's the case then I really don't want to update until it's solved. That bug made me not want to play the game when we had it last time.
It's most likely because the game is looking for something from the new pack and if the pack is not installed then the bug happens.

When you want to play without updating you must go offline. The 3 stripes in the left corner give you that option. I hope this will help you next time 😉

It works fine for me and I have parenthood installed. I am currently playing the Munch family and I have no issues with the character values. This is an entirely new save though.

I have noticed sims being mean out of nowhere, shouting forbidden words.

I was actually able to play for a few sim days before everything went all wonky. My sim kid's character value panel all of a sudden went weird, and then I couldn't open any of the simology panels or even save/close the game.
It's not a new save (well, it's a new "save as" from my Base Save File), but I am playing vanilla, so I know it's not mods.
I just mentioned parenthood as the character value panel going crazy when people tried to look at a child/teen's simology tab seems to be the common trigger, and it appears to be where the bug team is looking.
