People do things like get sims at the top of their career as fast as possible, craft to sell or plant only the most expensive fruits to sell, and then they complain about having too much money.
The game is not at fault, their way of playing is.
Promotions are not meant to happen every other day. Amateur painters usually paint for themselves and their friends. A small vegetable patch in the backyard is for the family's consumption.
Slow down. Let small things be meaningful again. Enjoy the journey.
Literally none of the hobbies in TS4 require you to sell a single collectible/crafted item. You want to do that, not the game.
