Is Jungle Adventures worth it?

I was pretty excited when I saw Jungle Adventures come out because it reminded me a lot of Sims Castaway Stories and TS2 Bon Voyage kinda mushed together but I wanna know before I get it: is it really worth it? I haven't bought a game pack before (only expansions) so I don't really know what to expect content wise. Does it have a fair number of CAS items and good exploration (I'm not expecting World Adventure exploration of course)?

  • I'm fairly disappointed with it at the moment. It's WAY expensive (in the game, I mean). I have played the same household for a week now to even afford to spend two sim days there, and I can barely afford anything.
  • What I love:

    - a beautiful world to explore
    - plenty of new recipes
    - a culture skill (I find this a great little touch)
    - new items for collectors
    - AVOCADOS!!!!
    - a great CAS that combines very well the explorer theme with the latin american inspired culture
    - and a stunning Build/Buy that I have been overusing ever since I got the pack

Regarding the exploration side of things, it's not that thrilling after you do it a couple of times and it get tedious to just watch your sim dig or take notes. Also, there's not really anything that you have to figure out, it's basically chance cards.
I like the inclusion of poison and other inconveniences that you might find along the way but it still doesn't feel too dangerous.

It lacks depth but what in TS4 doesn't?
For me it was worth the almost 20 euros because of all the things I listed above but to each their own. I suggest you watch a couple of youtube videos on it.
  • Here's the thing:

First, it's WA light. There are two actual main things in it, finding a new culture (the only part related to normal vacationing, though very small) and collecting.
Secondly, Sims 4 Jungle Adventures doesn't have that much gameplay. But, it's not that bad in regards to it's theme and for what it is, a GP. Most of the budget was heavily put into the world building I would imagine.

It's main issue is that the world is small albeit gourgeous. With only one path to the jungle it gets really, REALLY, repetitive to go through the same spot over and over again and the chance cards upon entering these areas barely vary in theme.

The only thing cool enough is the temple that changes but I'm almost sure I've got hand of all the possible layouts with about 4 times going to Selvadorada. The traps and stuff are cool but it's not a straight forward puzzle like in WA's tombs, it's just randomly generated chances.

The most entertaining thing here is the archeology skill, which ends up being almost a career related to just collecting things and that's pretty much it. Plus you get some relics that have powers and can turn you temporarily into a skeleton.

    I laughed my ass off.
  • Let's put it this way: Compared to Outoor Living it has plent of debth.
Compared to Vampires it's as shallow as a puddle on the sidewalk.
Heck "Eating Out" or whatever it's called, the restaurant one, has a more lasting impact on the game than this.
