Is planting flowers autonomously without flowers or seed packets in the inventory a new thing?

My sim is celebrating love day, because it is just her and her science child I have changed love day tasks to hunting eggs and interacting with the flower bunny. Only those two tasks, my sim went hunt...

I'm a little confused by the question. With the exception of the few seeds from Cottage Living, sims have always planted flowers (or fruits, or vegetables), rather than seeds, per se.
