Is the content that one has purchased a reflection on one's play style?

I bought the expansion packs because I wanted my sims to enjoy the little things in life. I bought Seasons for more realistic events and beautiful landscapes, City Living because I wanted to live in an apartment, and Get Together because I wanted to see them interact more with their friends and neighbors. Next time, I plan to buy Cottage Living because I want to experience the complete opposite of city life. To some extent,  I think the order in which people purchase DLC reflects their preferences.
