Is the next pack a Winter Wonderland Vacation?

In the latest Maxis Monthly where they showed us the content for the next patch devs also displayed that there is a new hair CAS category for sims male and female.

The icon is clearly a head with a winter beanie on it.

There's also the odd addition of the Yeti/Sasquatch costume in the future update.

All this could possibly indicate for a future Winter Wonderland Vacation pack coming up.

As a reminder I'd like to say that TS1 had an NPC called Betty Yeti that was present whenever you went to the Vacation Island in the mountain area.

What do you think of these and what would you expect in this type of pack?

  • I am pretty sure there will not be a Winter Vacation - as they are not likely to do another dlc for dlc after MFP fiasco with simmers carrying on - nor are they likely to do another pack with just winter - as then there will be people yelling about that being a feature they already had - so either way I don't see that dream coming true.

As Sims 1 did not have a seasons pack ever they instead introduced weather just in Vacation worlds - they had the winter lodge - the fall /Autumn camping, and the summer beach vacations - but the sims world never had weather. Believe me you could have some of the winter stuff for your lot and igloos and half pipes look darn silly without snow. I did like the metal detector though from the winter lodge stuff - at least that did not look odd in the regular world.

The only somewhat weather kind of pack I could actually see being possible because it will not really need Seasons so no dlc for dlc and because certain things were missing in the actual seasons pack would be a beach vacation pack in which they could add the so called missing things from summer to that kind of pack - like lounge chairs, tanning, ocean swimming, maybe even lake swimming, water toys and games - Resorts, Motels etc, etc.

They could do that kind of pack without crossing any lines that would raise too many simmers ire - well outside of the ones who will always complain - it should have been in the Seasons pack. I guess there is no way to avoid those complaints - just hope it is not loud enough to make them change their minds about doing such a pack if that is something you all want. But a winter pack to me does not look like something they would do because all of the above. Maybe at one time they considered it - but for those reasons - I'd be surprised if they delivered it - but I feel a beach pack could still be possible.

  • Yeah, I noticed that summer was pretty bare in Seasons. I feel like they wanted to save those for a beach pack. And you're right: a beach pack doesn't depend on a summer season because it's just sunny in the game without the Seasons pack.

I still love the idea of a beach and winter vacation combo EP that was mentioned in a previous survey though. If we got two worlds with about 10 lots each, I'd be happy. Get Famous was part of a previous survey and it was stripped down from what was mentioned however (the survey also mentioned being a famous musician), so they'll probably just do the beach pack and omit the winter destination.
  • Personally I'd love to see a Pool Stuffpack as the first Stuffpack of 2019. Pools are still missing too much. Pool Slides and Pool Waterfalls are 2 of the objects I really need.
  • I could imagine some alpine region where there are mountains everywhere and a lot of steep, rocky terrain. If you don't have seasons, you would have snow lying there always, but it would still be sunny. If you do have seasons, there is a chance that the snow melts for a short period of time during summer and the rest is like winter in Windenburg.
It could work, depending on the marketing. But unless it comes with a lot of gameplay like skiing and snowboarding that wasn't in Seasons, I can't imagine it being any popular. If you have seasons, you'd have all the snow gameplay, of course, but the Pack should still be able to stand on its own.

A tropical vacation pack with beaches, swimmable oceans, boating, diving, and palm trees would work much better.
    Building sandcastles and such...
Sunburns, Tanning... Maybe natives with skirts made out of plants and bones in their noses that try to catch you and throw you into a giant cauldron on a fire?
Mermaids that are just about as fleshed out as the Aliens in Get to Work?
I could see that much better.

If we get a winter world, vacation or otherwise, it should be snowy all year round, otherwise, what's the point? And if you allow summer sun melting the winter fun, do you allow snow covering the beach? Why does one get a fixed season and the other doesn't?

And just my opinion, but "natives with skirts made out of plants and bones in their noses" is not only disrespectful but condescending.

    Agreed.
