Guys you can make the game more " mature "...Just install mods and ???? if you want to have more fun ;)
To be more mature to me, DO NOT mean raunchy, graphic, or sexual. It means more meaningful gameplay and making things more difficult to achieve (their go-to is making it to easy to achieve). To me it is childish, when my sim can achieve to level 5 in a career in a sim week (too easily promoted). It is childish that my sims can instantly become friends or romantic interests with another sim in a couple sim hours. The difficulty level is none, so that makes the game feel childish.
I can't think what levels and challenge have to do with maturity or childishness, they seem to be two completely unrelated things??? Some people like a challenge, some people just play to relax and unwind and don't want any challenge, some play to create stories and the story lines done necessarily involve a challenge but they also might. None of these playstyles comes across as "immature" to me though. And for that matter, the same concept applies to adults and children. Some kids want things easy, but many kids like a challenge and that doesn't make them more "mature" than those that prefer a more relaxing game anymore then an adult wanting a relaxing game is not immature.
(That being said, the game can def. be a challenge if you want it to be harder... play a single parent with 7 infants or toddlers and no cheats and no money and not allowed to use daycare and not allowed to have any kids taken away and it can be quite difficult at times. )
