Is there a way to adopt a child already in game?

Hi! My friend's matriarch died in her baby challenge, leaving a toddler and baby behind. We decided a sim in my game could adopt them, she sent them to me via Sims 4 Tray Importer. My question is, is ...

No, I haven't put them in game yet. They are in my library. I am going to move the young adult who I want to adopt them in together, but wondered if there was a way they could adopt them so the game recognizes them as adopted children
