If you're ok with cheats, or you have the money to 'bribe' the wishing well, if you get said wishing well into the happiest mood possible, you can ask the well to resurrect your sim. If it's successful, from that point on only old age can kill the resurrected sim. I used to do this until I learned there were small mods to disable emotional deaths.
