Is there any way to appease the gnomes?

I usually ignore them until the day after. Then the only option they show is "View", that's when I go to construction mode and sell the little devils. Didn't know I can delete the gnome tradition from anticipated holidays, will sure try that out. Well, except the surprise holidays, but heck yeah!
