I think I may have accidentally triggered the error, when I first sought to put in counters, a stove and a fridge. Stoves are strictly verboten, and ever since, I've been afraid to try again, which is why I started this thread. I had t roll back not one but TWO game saves to find my Sims untainted by the loss of songs/albums and personal bank accounts. From this save I sent the kids to college, hoping upon hope that the 'problem' would be gone. This after repairing the game and refreshing the game folder, twice. But, if the thermostats don't work, what is the point of risking it? They just completed their second of three Terms, celebrated Winterfest and soon, Spring will hit. Let's hope it's a warmer Spring than I generally get in my game.
Many thanks to All of you who have opined. I may get wild and crazy and see if I can add said thermostat, making a back up, first, just in case. If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all …
