Every now and then, I'll make my single Sims start a family and once they do, I find Parenthood makes the whole child-raising process very entertaining.
That being said, as others have stated, if you're not interested in having your Sims raise children, the only real benefit you'll be getting from the pack is more interactions between the Sims and more realistic interactions (like tense Sims swearing) and more traits (that will have to be added in with cheats if you're playing young adult Sims or older) to customize their personalities.
Content from Parenthood still definitely shows up often in your game regardless of whether or not your Sim(s) has a family, but compared to the Sim(s) actually having a family, you'll find its effect on single Sims to be rather miniscule.
