My guess is that Sims 4 will end later this year or early next year, snd w'll get Sims 5 sometime in 2021.
They have already come out and said that there are still years more of Sims4 to look forward to. They have said that now some of the most requested stuff is out of the way, they can make packs we aren't expecting. They have the TV gaming started and have talked about multiplayer. They put all Sims5 talk in rumor and speculation. They also said Sims4 wouldn't have patterns like past games. It's also been mentioned by some that if Sims4 isn't lucrative, there will be no Sims5. They have mentioned open world being a problem, so if that isn't happening, what could Sims5 offer, but adding content we already have in Sims3 and Sims4. It would be redundant. There's talk of world editor, which along with making more content could warrant more workers. Also heard that those workers might be for another title; EA has many games.
I think they are paying attention to the mistakes they made with Sims4 and are making ideas/notes, but as far as seeing a Sims5 anytime in the near future, I don't think so by the numerous comments over the last year. When extremely tight lipped gurus say there are years worth more of Sims4, then it's true. They won't ever tell us anything and for them to spell it out openly is an indication that it isn't coming anytime soon. People seem to forget Sims4 is different in that it's online instead of disc, so adding to the Sims4 is different than the past Sims games. We don't even have 1/5 or less content in the Sims4 than we had in the Sims3. Horses, casinoes, houseboats, hotels, cemeteries, more travel destinations( they only have 2 listed), no freed infants, many supernaturals missing, no cars, no real aquariums, all those surveys for future content that we haven't seen yet, a bunch of jobs, underwater play, and so much more.
I despise the thought of the Sims5 and so do many others, because buying the same game and packs over is crazy. Years from now, they might up the specs and provide other gaming solutions as well, but they have already said open world is extremely questionable going into the future. I didn't want Sims4, but wanted farming and other requests for Sims3, but we have it, so why not add to it for 5 yrs. and if anything else comes along maybe it will be worth buying. Rushing into the Sims4 sure didn't help things and after Sims3, they knew many of problems and we still have a game that is a step into the past, not the future, although it has several things I love about it. Rushing into another game when Sims4 is nowhere near to being fleshed out isn't something many simmers want.
