Is anybody else having a problem with the elementals not showing up when a Child of the Islands sim summons them? I used to be able to get three to show up, then it reduced to one, and now none of the...
I spend most of my game playing with Island Elementals and Merfolk, so I'll clear a few things up.
You do not need cheats to have Island Elementals join your household. However, you do need a high enough relationship to have them join your household.
This is the screenshot from when I earned the Ghostly Achievement. For the PlayStation, Achievements can not be earned with cheats turned on.
You have to use the Friendly Interaction "Ask to Move In" after the gathering ends. So, you have to pick the elemental you want to move in and get them to stay a little longer after the summoning event ends.
Important: If you use the "Invite to Household" interaction you will need to find a way to bring the ghost back to life. Island Elementals are essentially ghosts with the unique trait Sulani Mana. It is the Sulani Mana trait that makes a ghost an Island Elemental, and mortal Island Elementals can still pass judgement as early as their teenage life stage.
For Calum Zalrian and Arihi Tilo. They had traits that helped them build their relationship.
Arihi was summoned with the Genius, Child of the Ocean, and Loner Traits.
Because Calum was a merman, his merfolk trait helped him overcome the loner trait. Children of the Ocean build relationships with merfolk and dolphins faster.
I removed Calum's Child of the Islands trait after I had a household of Elementals. The Elementals as Mortals, Mer/Elemental Hybrids, or Ghosts are very good at passing judgement while they aren't doing anything. They don't have their tasks interrupted to pass judgement. But with three sims that can pass judgment, Calum spent a lot of time dealing with sad moodlets if he didn't do enough to engage in island activities.
My main Sims Dylan and Zephyr Zalrian are their twin sons, and as early as their child life stage, they started displaying their occult powers. They were born Mermen and Island Elementals.
As for cheating, you can use cheats to add the Sulani Mana trait to your sims. The trait is a genetic trait that is passed onto the children as long as one of the parents has the trait. I started my first attempt at a legacy cheating the trait. I think the cheats I used, mostly to control their appearance to honor the legacy rules, is what broke my save and ended the legacy. If the game didn't glitch the way it did, I would have continued what I started.
As you can imagine, it takes a long time to build up a relationship and get the hidden trait without cheats, but it is possible.
