I strongly disagree. Shallow is what you make it. Not like Sims was super deep or had great game play either; but people told stories that gave the game depth. The point of the game is to create sims and stories how you want it or otherwise it would be an RPG.
Shallow is the Sims in this game having no personalities. In the past I did not have to imagine what made my sims unique, the game displayed that based on how I created them. Sims 4 is only good at showing expression through emotions, and for every sim they experience those emotions the exact same way. This in turn means that every sim behaves the same way, they are drawn to the same things, and by design they are always nice and happy. The last part is probably the biggest flaw with this game.
It wasn’t my imagination that added depth to the characters in the previous games, it was the game doing what it was supposed to be doing: simulating virtual lives. You’re right the basic premise of the game is creating sims and telling stories but the game has to have some input.
No personalities?! Ha, must be a joke or you're or playing the game as all my sims seem to act quite different.
All this talk yet Sims 3 were the worst of all. Five traits and they still just stand there and look as stiff as a board and emotionless as a robot. Sims 2 didn't have traits and even they had more personality.
And yes, you did need imagine before it was always about players wanted. They aren't an RPG, so it isn't a liner game. It must be your imagine as I don't remember Sims 3 doing much at all, much less being all that deep or have much game play (especially compared to Sims 2). Sims 3 is a huge downgrade in every way.
And I am not apology for pointing this out.
Sounds like you’re just trying to bash Sims 3. Sims lacking personalities in this game is one of the biggest complaints, and has been since they released the game in 2014. We are well beyond the point of trying to deny that.
I’m not going to get into a back and forth over Sims 3, I’m not trying to change your opinion. It was an amazing game, I’m sorry you couldn’t get into it. That being said, it’s a superior game to Sims 4. So is Sims 2. Sims 4 is one of the most disappointing follow up titles I have ever seen; lacking every major innovation from Sims 3 and has the worst AI out of all of the games. Maybe it’s better than Sims 1, but that’s nothing to write home about.
I had experimented with this once.
I had a neat sim and a sloppy sim in both TS3 and TS4. There was so much more drama to be had in TS3 between these two sims than there was in TS4. It was even built into the socials they could use on each other. I had the neat sim ask the sloppy sim to clean up her mess in TS3 and the sloppy sim became angry at being asked and they had a negative relationship point hit.
In TS4, the neat sim is basically oblivious to the sloppy other than getting tense a sloppy surroundings and not getting angry at the sim that causes it. The only way to have drama with these two sims is to force it with mean socials.
This is beyond true. I also have tested this. In TS3 within 5 sim minutes of conversation they'll start hating on each other because one wants everything clean the other one is a mess. It's really funny. In TS4 they are indiferent to one another :\
