I cringe so much when people tell me I should be "grateful" of EAs packs. Like am I not paying for them? I mean sure if they were for free, then I'd understand. But mate, if I'm dropping $50 on a pack and I don't think I'm getting good value for money then #&*# straight I'll have a complain. Don't tell me to be grateful for content I'm paying for. That's ridiculous.
That's like me telling you, you should be grateful for your house cleaner, which you pay $100/hr to clean your house. There's certain expectations when you pay for tangible things/services, and if they aren't met, there's a big problem.
You must remember EA isn't doing us a favor, they're selling us a tangible product. And when you compare these $50 packs to games which are around the same price point, you get MUCH better value by pretty much every developer other than EA.
Thank you very much for saying this!
I totally understand this, but to take the analogy further I think what bothers people like me is watching people complain about everything but also continuing to pay for all the new packs. If your house cleaner failed to meet expecations, and continued to fail expectations, you'd fire them. You wouldn't complain about it for the fifth time then pay them next month for a bad job. I know not everyone buys the packs, and you're totally entitled to your opinon: you have the right to share and voice. I want you to share your opinion and tell EA what you want as a consumer even if I disagree on various points!
But start using your dollar too!
For someone who loves the game, it's hard to be sympathetic to someone who hates the packs and continues to buy them...there are people who have more packs then me and continue to complain about every one! Stop buying them, EA doesn't care about your complaints, they care about your dollar. As long as you keep buying them, they don't care that you're disappointed. They know you're gonna come back next month and buy. Of course they're gonna give you less for your dollar because they can get away with it. As much as everyone is complaining, they haven't dropped in sales. They have no financial evidence that there is anything wrong with their product.
There is ample opportunity to see what's in the pack before you buy it. With Island Living, there were loads of EA game changer play thoughs, we knew there was no hammocks, no volleyball, etc. We knew there was no diving, about the jobs, the full extent of mermaid interactions. I know I sound harsh but I'm being serious. Only way EA is going to hear your guys is if you stop paying them for it.
I don't mean to direct this at one person. This isn't a personal attack of any kind, and I know there are people who do refuse to buy and are applying these practices, but it's the most effective way to get EAs attention. Otherwise, it's like you're just hitting yourself in the face every release.
Please complain, discuss your disappointments and use your voice. But back it up with your dollar.
Agree with everything you say - however, I am also told to "make up my own mind" - it seems like the customer/consumer can't get it right - they either complain too much and don't try it for themselves or they complain too much and buy a pack hoping it delivers the goods as they were advertised (which hasn't happened so far).
As you have noticed - they don't seem to care and customers/consumers are plummed if they do and plummed if they don't.
I understand the whole "make up my own mind" that people push. It's hard to stand up and make a point, we often want to please people. But I think that's more for "try something once" before you knock it. I don't think it should be applied to the seventh pack in a series of packs you've been disappointed with. The whole "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" sort of thing. I can super understand wanting to give it a try even up to the fourth pack, after a few updates. But I think a lot of you are at the point now where it's been done, the chance has been given, the game has been tried. The people who are disappointed have been disappointed from the beginning.
In this thread alone, which is supposed to be disappointment in Island Living, people can't help but voice their opinion on sims 4 as a whole. There's a large group of people that are dissatisfied. My point is to encourage you guys to stick to your gut. A lot of you aren't happy so don't waste your money anymore, you don't have to prove it to anyone. I'm someone who loves the sims 4, and I adore island living, but I get it. And I know exactly what you mean, because as soon as the next one comes out, they'll be a bunch of us sims 4 lovers that will be like "you didn't even buy it how can you say" and "why are you even here if you don't like it?" That's hecka annoying. All I can do is apologize for those people, but you guys are large community. Stick together, stay polite. Don't waste your hard earned money for random strangers on the internet. You can always watch a let's play instead, there's so many youtubers nowadays XD. You're bound to find someone you vibe with.
