Then I tried your suggestion: zoning as a park again, exit build mode, go back in, re-zone generic. It still didn't show up.
I'm guessing you're experiencing a different bug since your lot didn't come from the gallery. You're not using any mods that might interfere with lot types? Like Zerbu's school or his venue list? Any from Brittpinkiesims or LittleMsSam? If you have any mods at all, I would try without just to be sure. I haven't tested any generic venues since the patch so I'm hoping the fix actually works.
