It's All But Academic, Now. UPDATE

I was working on a post for the "What Happened In Your Game Today?" thread, trying to sort out the weird twist my game took. I had suddenly lost the best Butler I've had in a long while, replaced by one that hates children (in a household with five wee ones, this doesn't bode well). I wrote up a story about why that really efficient Butler left, and then she suddenly came back. My Sims fired the second Butler, for negligence in her duties. If she ever cleaned the house, you would never know it. Generally, one of the things the Butlers do is childcare. This one obviously didn't get the memo. So, she was fired. After a few days of things just not working out, the parents decided to try again. Who should show up at their door? You got it. That first Butler, they all loved so much. This, after the story where I had her confess she'd fallen in love with the Rock Star and had to leave had been posted. I was very pleased to have her back, excited for the story I was writing to explain things. Then, she couldn't be found, once again, even though she was included on the guest list for the eldest Tot's birthday party. I just scanned around the house — she's nowhere. Who should walk into the side door? Butler number two, the one I feared getting when they went to hire another Butler. I'll give it a bit of time, just in case Yumika is on vacation, which hardly seems plausible, she only resumed her duties the day before. :open_mouth: I think I may just have to do a game repair. This is crazy-insane. I can't keep up! I just know I can't have my household in constant turmoil like this.

    While your remarks are well taken, I had to do a save recovery. Seems the children's maternal grandmother died just hours after the party was over. :'( Well, she was up there in years. I wanted very much to figure out a way to give her a funeral/Memorial and in my Internet search, I came across a mod I used a few times a year or better ago. Mortem by Simsrealist. I contacted them on their Discord to see if that would work, somehow, since the Sim did not pass away on the active lot. Things weren't quite working by the step-by-step, which means I have a mod or something interfering. I decided to do that game save recovery, trying to back it up to right before the party began. In this endeavor, the desired Butler was in the household, but I saw her leaving via the locked front gate and disappear. I then attempted to have granny die via MCCC — only I didn't realize the Sim I had active at that moment is the one targeted! :open_mouth: My Rock Star was being mauled to death by a rabbit! It was horrible. I quickly exited without saving. Going back into the same recovered save, I selected to have granny move in (albeit temporarily) so that I could make her the active Sim. This worked. Not only that but the Butler, dressed up for the party, was wailing buckets over the Deceased. So far, she's still part of the family. Phew! So long as she doesn't pack up her stuff and leave again, my problem is solved! And so it what is already written.

    So, thank you so very much for posting! I greatly appreciate it. It's hard when nobody posts, you know?

    UPDATE: And she was there, and then she wasn't. She was last seen weeping over her boss's deceased mother when I SAVED and exited the game. Then upon powering up again, just yesterday, she must have left AGAIN, while I was busy placing the funeral home. I did spend most of that time in my Build Save, so that time wouldn't continue in my Main Save. I'm scratching my head, though. I did a game repair this morning. I shall see what's what when I start to play. I may just leave her out of it and focus on the family's loss, instead. This is getting really weird. Or see if a save recovery will put me back to when the Butler was still there. Oi!

    When I'm writing a novel and a chapter goes wrong, it's simply a matter of a redraft for said chapter, or a deep revision to cut out where things went off-script! I'm hoping the game repair will do the job. I do not desire to start over again. Erik has come too far with his family and his career to simply go back to an earlier 'chapter' if you will. I do a Save As, for every gaming session. I could take them back to when they first came to HoB after Uni, but then again, he's up to sixteen Best Song Accolades.

    Hey there it has nothing to do with your game, you don’t need to restart, it is an age old bug that looks like EA won’t fix sadly!

    Thanks, I had a look at the help thread, but nothing matches what's going on in my game. I've played with Butlers on and off since I got the pack they came with. What I discovered was the first Butler was great. He was so dedicated that he went out into the rain to repair the rock-climbing device. He died. I didn't notice this, focusing on one of the other Sims in my household, until another Butler came running to the house. Then he disappeared. Again a third Butler came along, but since the second one died the way the first one did. (There were two tombstones out in the back yard near the broken device) I had my Teen boys distract him to keep him from the same fate.

    Another time, the Butler got replaced and it left me wondering why. Then my Sim ran into him while in town. He came back a few days later and resumed his duties like nothing had happened. I gathered that even Butlers deserve a day or two off. That's not what's happening now. The first Butler, Yumika, never did return, until after Erik called to hire another one. The second Butler the Agency sent over in her place, hates children, besides has little or no desire to clean the house! Yumika answered the second round of hiring. Then she just left again, inexplicably.

    What's really weird is that she was in my game, weeping over Kayleigh's deceased mother. (Kayleigh is Erik's wife.) I saved the game before I shut down. The next day, she was nowhere. AGAIN. This is either a new bug, or a twisted reset of the older one. I did a game repair and shall see where I stand today.

    I wish I could help you out, I do not have the pack with butlers. It has at least been fun to read about your save with them.

    Hope that it will get sorted and that you can keep the good one.

    I'd just, ya know... make the one you dislike age up too quickly... see if that gives you the good one back.

    Interesting idea. I discovered Yumika was on the property, when I got the popup where she's thanking the family for allowing her to hang-out. Face/palm. This strikes me a bit as stalking. :open_mouth: Currently, to her credit, Aylin is actually working hard, cleaning and doing the things expected of her. I did do a game repair. I'm thinking she was just tweaked or something. So long as she performs her duties, she's welcome to stay. And, since it seems Yumika isn't really wanting to remain a Butler, getting rid of one that is now working properly would be moot. But, it is an insightful suggestion. Thank you!

    UPDATED UPDATE: After the game repair, Yumika wasn't on the property. I even did a save recovery. She showed up much later, but not as a Butler. Aylin was in that capacity already. Yumika was dressed the same way she was when I first saw her as a FAN of Erik's! Weirdness. The upside is, Aylin is now taking her job more seriously. I am still sorting out how to address this mess in an upcoming post for WHIYGT? I have more playing to do, however.

    Just wanted to say, I gave up on the whole Butler Saga. Once I did the game repair, Aylin Lunsford is actually doing her job! Yumika disappeared from that duty and I'm now only seeing her occasionally in the game. Other things have happened in my game, too, that take precedence. So, many thanks to all of you who offered suggestions. The game itself, helped me choose my path.
