I was too neutral on the whole thing to have an opinion either way, but I feel like EA or whichever higher ups is not giving these guys nearly enough budget to be able to spread resources where it needs to be.
Like, it's snow. It's not like creating a whole neighborhood in comparison to the amount of work that would be needed. Maybe the engine is really shitty to work with, but even then I just find it hard to fathom that the developers would have such a problem they chose to scrap it for something else.
Snow is pretty much one of the bigger selling points for the seasons pack as a concept, and not being able to really put in proper effort into it without having to sacrifice something else or just get a subpar result is ... ??? Note: I'm NOT saying that programming/game development is easy, but it just really shouldn't be THAT hard or restricting, imo.
I'm not mad or upset as much as I am confused, mainly cause I feel like Sims 4 should be expanding upon the concepts of Sims 3, and not just trading aspects out. Maybe that's a consequence of the "even toasters can play this game!" business model or the engine itself, but either way it's just strange to me.
I appreciate the gurus being open with us about it, regardless.
