I don't doubt that the higher ups have already cracked open the bubbly. Not only are we frogs that are about to be cooked, we're falling all over ourselves to thank the Chef for the opportunity to participate in the meal.
Each time that an integral feature of the series is cut and the community says, "I don't care", it just makes it easier for EA to drop something else the next time, and the next, and the next.
I also keep thinking about that earlier poster who speculated that, in private, the developers are hanging their heads in shame. I wholeheartedly agree, that's probably exactly what's happening -- with one addition: the developer who's banging their head against the desk is also muttering "Why do they stand for it?"

Give the community a minute. Right now, the focus is on winter. I have a feeling that the rumblings have only just begun.
