I like both Outdoor Retreat and Jungle Adventure, but I don't think it's fair to compare the two. They are apples and plastic apples. OR was the very first GP and, for what it is, I think was well done for that time. It is a beautiful world and there are skills to learn and the weird person in a bear suit roaming around. There are lovely log cabins and a campsite where you can pitch a tent with other sims and have a weenie roast while telling ghost stories. Then there's the hermit to seek out, who also teaches you a few things. If you want a nice relaxing vacation for your sim, OR is the better choice as there are no locals to put up with. It's just you and nature.
And wait until Seasons is released. I can only imagine how beautiful those woods will look covered in snow. IMO, OR is a step sister, but I don't think it's the ugly step sister.
I agree. It's obvious that JA edges out OR, but OR was nice for its time. It had a lot to offer back then, and it didn't have a lot of previous content to build on or reuse. I still take my sims camping from time to time because it's fun. Same reason why I reuse EP features in previous Sims games. There's a lot of replay value in Sims games.
