Jungle Living and Desert Living

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if we would get another location based EP. I really like City Living, Island Living, Cottage Living, Horse Ranch and Snowy Escape so I was wondering "what if we get another one around jungle? or the desert?"

I know we already have Jungle adventure, but that one mostly focuses on archeology and going on vacation in a jungle to explore it. My idea is more focused on "living" in the jungle.

These are the features I imagined for both themes, let me know what you think about them:

I think the Egypt tombs are very problematic due to some reasons: theft and blasphemy. Jungle Adventure is already not really liked for that reason, so if we have another pack like that, it wouldn't be very sensitive. Also, I feel like simmers want more countries outside Egypt when it comes to African representation, that's why it would be better if it's more country around the Sahel but not Egypt.

As dfor temples, I think they could use them in a better way: A religion/ Spiritual theme pack. I mean, spirituality is already in the game, so why not expand on that? A customization system could bring the freedom simmers need for that type of theme

Well, the Egyptian pyramids were never tombs, so we could have that, along with the Sphinx and other temples in Egypt.  The tombs in Egypt are a very small part of that part of history.  You can't have exploration type adventure in temples that are currently in use. Ancient ruins are better suited for that. I don't really care for actual religion, they tried to add some elements in Snowy Escape but were boycotted by the Korean simmers, and they added the rabbithole temple and the altar offering in For Rent. As far as religion goes, I am happy with elements of gameplay like the Menorah, altar offering, or the Christmas tree, traditions that are associated to one religion or another, but I don't want actual religion game mechanics.  But religion, of any kind, is not adventure, and people here are asking for adventure and exploration. Maybe they could do a pirate treasure quest on an island in the tropics.

Pyramids are nowadays considered tombs, or at least sacred places where dead people were put. It's like exploring a cemetery and then take the treasures that are there.

Also, I created the post so nope, it's not just about "exploration", it's about places and locations, if you propose temples, of course I would think religion cause that is the main purpose of temples, outside of weddings and funerals. The franchise itself already has a religious lore, The Watcher for example is integrated in simmers' vocabulary; We have religious elements in the game like Xmas trees, menorahs, hijabs, shrines, island elementals, Myshupotamian dieties, spirits, voodoo dolls. I didn't put temples in the features because exactly of this idea that temples, tombs and other sacred places are just made to be "explored" and their artifacts "collected" (more like stolen).

No one considers the pyramids as tombs because no one was buried there, nor was there any treasure found. If there was any treasure there it must have been stolen thousands of years ago.

As for jungle living, if they make an EP like what you propose it's just going to be a lot like Island Living, which in my opinion lacks a lot in terms of gameplay.  It needs more than conservation and research to make it fun. As for temples, I am not advocating for gameplay related to active religious temples, but for ruins, buildings or what's left of them that haven't been used in so long that people have forgotten what purpose they were build for in the first place. This is what jungle adventure pack is about. It's about discovering history and learning about the people who built those places through the artifacts they left behind. It's not stealing, it's history, and you can't have a sacred place if all the people who viewed that place as sacred have all died long time ago.

Pyramids are tombs, the Pharaohs were literally burried there...it's a huge problem for Egyptian conservationists and heritage preservation. There were many treasures burried with them too but they were stolen by the British and other colonizers. How could negate History like that?

An EP based on Living in a jungle where the Sims have to go into the jungle for research, or to rescue animals is similar to Island Living where the Sims have to clean the Ocean and the beach? I don't see the similarity at all. If you go into the jungle, and make sure to not be endangered while finding an animal to rescue and protect (the success of the mission could completely depend on your skill or on the items you bought, especially to rescue the animal). Also, a wildlife photographer has to go into the jungle, find the right animal to photograph and make sure to get the perfect shot. I don't think that's the same as Island Living at all.

Finally, we already have Jungle Adventure, why would you want something so similar? Also, do you know that sites with ancient temples and ruins are protected right? And the locals still consider these places as world heritage and sacred. And it's not that people died a long time ago that we're allowed to do every we want or explore however we want, just take a look at Stonehenge, it's a ruin dated from the Neolithic period, every person that lived at that time died millions of years ago, but it's a protected site as a world and human heritage. Also, nowadays, when ancient ruins are discovered, no one is allowed there because scientists need to make sure, the site is not fragile, and they have to fnd a way to preserve it first. So if you want a gameplay like that, why not, but I hope that in that case, they would make a whole gameplay about abtaining an authorization or a certificate to allow your sim into those ruins and temples.

Seriously, name one pharaoh that was buried in a pyramid. They found nothing in the pyramids apart from rocks. The pharaohs are buried in the valley of the Kings where the royal tombs are located.

For a jungle based EP like you describe, the gameplay will be mainly rabbithole type because there is no way EA will add tons of animals to rescue and photograph or interact with in any way. If we're lucky we might get a parakeet or a lizard. There has to be something else to do in the jungle, for it to be interesting. If they add another ruins to explore, how is that different from the ruins in Windenberg or Henford for example?  All historical sites are protected, some more than others, but Stonehenge, while protected, it's not sacred. How could it be sacred when people don't even know who built it or for what purpose? For all we know it could have been a really large bathroom with a nice view when it was first built. When ancient ruins are discovered, archaeologists first need to find out what they are, who made them and for what purpose, and when they have an understanding of the place they put any artefacts up in a museum and people can come visit and find out about that place. Of course the majority of people will not get to touch the really fragile stuff, but rocks in general aren't fragile, that's why we get to find them thousands of years later and wonder about who carved them and built with them.
